Originally a parish by the name of Woburn, the town of Burlington was incorporated in 1799. The town rests within the Middlesex County, a half-hour's drive down the interstate from Boston. The Burlington real estate area holds about 10, 000 households, for a total population of 24,000.

Burlington is a well educated town, with over 40% percent of its citizens possessing a college degree. The city is also known for its remarkably low unemployment rate of just under 3%.
